US Deaf Swimming National Championships
April 14-15, 2007
In conjunction with the GTAC Disability Open
The Greater Toledo Aquatic Club will host the GTAC Disability Open and US Deaf Swimming National Championships on April 14-15, 2007 at the Eastern Michigan University pool. The meet will serve as a national team selection meet for athletes for the 2007 World Deaf Swimming Championships and the 2007 Pan American Deaf Games.
Team Selection Criteria:

Athlete must be a US citizen and eligible to represent the USA at international competition.

Athlete must be a member in good standing with USA Swimming, US Deaf Swimming, and the USADSF.

Athlete must have a hearing loss of at least 55db in the better ear (pure tone average at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hertz, ISO 1964 Standard).

Athlete must provide a recent audiogram on the official ICSD audiogram to the USDS Swimming Program Manager prior to selection competition (can be mailed with meet entries ). The form is available at http://www.deaflympics.com/forms/audiogram.pdf.

Athlete must agree and sign and abide by USOC, USA Swimming, and USADSF Codes of Conduct.

Athlete must submit him or herself without any reservations to all doping control policies and procedures of the USADSF, FINA, USOC, and ICSD.

Athlete must commit to train year round from time of selection to international competition and comply with training requirements and timely submission of a training plan.

Athlete must maintain contact with USDS swimming program manager and coaches and keep them informed of training regimens and performance results.

Athlete must exhibit good sportsmanship and character.
Qualifying for International Competition:

Athletes MUST compete at the 2007 GTAC Disability Open/USDS Deaf National Championships for consideration.

The top two finishers in each individual event will be selected to the national team for the 2007 World Deaf Championships.

The 3rd and 4th place finishers in each individual event will be selected to the national team for the 2007 Pan Am Deaf Games.

All swimmers named to the two national teams will be eligible for the relays (400 M free, 800 M free, and 400 M medley).
Announcement of Team
The national team will be announced within one week from completion of the team selection meet.
Replacement Procedures
Any swimmer will be withdrawn from the team, if for any reason (including injury or illness) he/she is unable or unwilling to maintain a training regimen that is necessary for his/her peak performance for international competition or does not comply with selection criteria requirements. If an athlete is removed from the team, the next place athlete will be placed on the national team.
