Coach Snape

Since he began coaching at Gallaudet, the team has broken over fifty team records.  In 2008, Snape was named Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.  In 2007, Snape coached the U.S. Deaf Swimming Team at World Championships in Taiwan.  He has served in various capacities on the U.S. Deaf Swimming Board since 2006, most recently as Director.  

When not on the pool deck, Snape is senior counsel with the Center for Biological Diversity, and a Practitioner in Residence at the American University Law School. Snape has written numerous swimming and legal articles, and is editor and author of Biodiversity and the Law published by Island Press in 1996.   He is a magna cum laude graduate of the Honors College at the University of California, Los Angeles, and received his law degree from George Washington University, where he was also the associate head swim coach.  He still trains and swims in competitions.
